Pros - Everything. Worth it.
Cons - Packaged terribly. Took longer to get them out and untangled than it did to hang them.
I have multiple Govee products and they are all solid. Love them all. On the outdoor lights, they don’t always stick to the underside of your roof but you can find housings that screw instead of using the tape Govee sends. Other than that it’s perfect
I love govee and have been a supporter since the beginning all of there products are amazing.
They work great! I love that you can pick which lights to turn on or off, that way I can set up custom areas that light up depending what I am doing on the back deck. Like if its a party they are all on, or if I'm just grilling I can light up the ones directly above the grill. They are well built for sure, They smacked against the deck a lot during setup and are working normally afterwards. I also own a tv LED set from them, I really love the quality of their stuff! ...fanboy
There are many competing RGB light sets out there, at a variety of prices. Govee is consistently more expensive, but are their products worth the extra cash? I'd say yes.
First of all, this light set has good dynamic range between the dimmest and brightest settings. So, you can put more light on the subject, so to speak, or you can take it down quite dim so that the look is more decorative than practical. That's a differentiating factor.
But this really becomes apparent with the preset "looks," where the overall effect is enhanced by varying brightness. Those presets look great whether the string is dimmed or fully bright, but to see them as designed, you'd want to start with full-bright, and adjust to the mood you want.
So there's two differentiating factors.
Third: The Govee ecosystem. This became apparent when pairing the lights with my home WiFi and my phone. The list of categories, never mind the individual "models" of lights, is lengthy. The entire system can be automated with a phone or via Alexa...so the Govee ecosystem is intersecting with broader home automation systems.
That may be the biggest differentiating factor of all. You're freed of multiple remotes, multiple apps, and the pain of keeping up with all the individual systems' compatibility with other home automation products.
So, back to the premise...is that worth paying for? Frankly, I wrestled with it. These are at the top of the heap so far as price goes. You won't find many brands that are more expensive. But in the big scheme of things, you have to consider the cost of your time, the hassle of getting the lights hung and wired, and the possibility that a failure might mean doing all of that over again.
For me, I'll say this is a Five Star product. I see the value proposition of strong integration and a one-stop automation ecosystem. For you that might be different. And I was not initially going to award the full five stars, for that reason. But ultimately, I have to give it up. This is a good product I've become convinced is worth the asking price. We'll see how long and how well they hold up.
