Question 4

How many feet of string lights do I need?

Accepted Answer

The number of feet of Govee string lights you need depends on the size of your space, the lighting density you want, and how you plan to install them.
For most outdoor and indoor setups, here’s a simple guide:
1. Small spaces (balconies, bedrooms, small patios): You’ll typically need 25–50 feet of Govee string lights. This is enough for railing edges, small walls, or compact décor accents.
2. Medium spaces (average patios, gardens, pergolas): Plan for 50–100 feet. This range works well for wrapping pergolas, outlining fences, or creating a cozy overhead canopy effect.
3. Large spaces (big gardens, event areas, long fences): You’ll need 100–200+ feet, especially for full perimeter lighting, large backyard coverage, or layered decorative designs.
Quick rule of thumb:
A good estimate is 1 foot of string lights per 1–2 square feet of decorated area, depending on how dense you want the lighting to look.
