These lights are amazing. The bulb shape has an old school vibe, but the various modes (including synthesizing to outside music sources) makes these lights enjoyable for all. We move out lights around from houses to RV and they have held up perfectly. The brightness can be dimmed down on the yellow setting to give off the mentioned old school halogen bulb glow. These are very multi-purpose, the red and green mode could be used for Christmas lights. The colors are sharp and very contrasting. We use them not just for decorations, but for lighting as well and will purchase more.

Just had a new enclosed deck built and it was time to decide how to best light it for a party. I did a lot of homework and I kept coming back to this product. The ability to customize the lighting including what color to make each individual bulb was a huge plus. Also being able to connect two strings creating one long 96 foot string fit our deck perfectly. We did have one small hiccup but a message to Govee via their app and the issue was resolved in days, not weeks, like other products I have used.
For friends that we have had over they always ask where I purchased the lights or who is the manufacturer and I gladly say Govee and send them a link to where they can purchase their own.

All of my neighbors have lights adorning their patios and decks, so I had to one-up them. These lights are definitely a step up from the basic string of led lights. And my neighbors are jealous, so that's a win.
As others have pointed out, the colors aren't super bright. But what you consider “bright” will depend on how many surfaces you're illuminating. If you're using them indoors, they're plenty bright.
My photo shows the lights outdoors and on the “illumination” preset at 100%. As you can see, it's warm white and it's good and bright. You can read by it.
My only beef is the same beef I have with other Govee lights; the limited number of presets and the inability to make your own. It would be nice if they would update their app with new presets at the very least.

These lights are pretty good. I bought this item when there were no reviews so I was a little nervous, but so far so good. I've had these lights up for a week now and they're nice. There are many colors and modes to choose from. The remote is pretty useful, but these lights really shine when you use the app. There are many different movements and you can also control the color of the individual bulbs which I really like.
The bulbs are plastic but seem sturdy enough, they held up well when they swung around during the hanging process.
The lights themself can get very bright while in the white light mode, but they're significantly dimmer when using any color. Also you can control the brightness of the bulbs for when you want things even dimmer.
My only gripe would be that you have to point the remote directly at the outlet box for it to work, and only one phone can connect to the lights app at once.
Overall, if you're looking for lights that give you a lot of customization options I'd say this is a good buy.
